About Me
Last summer I decided to spend a year as a working student. My idea was that I would spend four months in Germany at a dressage stable, four months in Florida at an eventing stable, and four months in Canada with a Big-Time show-jumper. I bought extra-thick socks from MEC and packed three winter jackets, and in September 2008 I left for Voerde, a surprisingly grey town located on the Rhine under the regional directorship of Dusseldorf. I spent ten weeks apprenticing with the former coach of the Canadian, Dutch and German Dressage Teams, Herr Johann Hinnemann.
Since then I have worked for Ingrid Klimke in Muenster and David and Karen O`Connor in Florida. These Masters forgot more about riding in those six months then I will ever know. It was an honour to work for them. I improved my knowledge of classical dressage, I learnt the difference between showjumping and cross-country and I discovered natural horsemanship. I spent the summer of 2009 at home, in Vancouver, training and competing on Sapphire, a dutch warmblood.
